OUR GOAL: The goal of BookLab is to promote local writers, inspire budding writers, explore the inner workings of our relationship with literature and knowledge, and create a literary community of individuals with a passion for the written word and the Boston literary scene.
OUR SCHEDULE: Informal gatherings are held monthly, usually on the third Thursday 6:30 – 8:00 PM, currently alternating between South End and Jamaica Plain residences. Light refreshments are provided.
OUR PROGRAMMING: Events include conversation with the author, a reading from the current book and often a discussion of the writing process, research, author experiences, inspiration, mentors, etc. Presenters include novelists, bloggers, poets, essayists, memoirists, biographers, and any other genre our authors are writing.
- Authors may be published or unpublished, may present finished work, or work in progress (but this is not a workshop)
- Authors with published work have the opportunity to offer books for sale at the gathering.
- This is not a book club and it is not necessary to read the books prior to the BookLab event.
Other types of programming are also in the works.
